MDS Christmas Recipe

This is one of my favorite holiday simple treat recipes.  I try not to make it too often becuase it is so addicting.  I am not a fan of the hard caramel corn that you can get most anywhere, this is a soft chewy caramel corn that is oh so yummy.  I got the recipe years ago somewhere off of the internet.  Anyways I did a hybrid project using My Digital Studio to create a recipe card to give to a friend.

hh#5ccornThe colors are Wild Wasabi and Cherry Cobbler.  I printed the MDS page out at my local Costco because I just could not wait to get it done through SU! printer.  I then trimmed it up and mounted it on the Cherry Cobbler and then Wasabi cardstocks.  Then I placed a line of sticky strip on the top and bottom of the picture and poured on the Champagne Glass Glitter.  I love this glitter, it is so pretty.  In fact I just had to open up my 3 jar of it last night and it has all just been for my personal use, no classes involved.

Here is a close up of the recipe for those of you who are interested in it.

A little MDS

With everything that I have going on in life I have been keeping a binder to keep my life in order from kids activities, appointments, lessons etc, even what days to do which chores!  It was not perfect and I was telling a friend about it at the beginning of the summer.  Well last week my friend sent me a link to a website where a lady does the same thing.  I took some of her tips and combined it with my own and am liking the end result much better.  Now that I have the binder set up better I thought it needed a cover page.

Back2School Binder-001

This was created in My Digital Studio.  Although I used it for a cover page, all you need to do is add in a picture in the frame and it would be a great scrapbook page.  Some of the elements (Well I guess most of them) are not from MDS but the “everything” stamp, the texture overlay stamp (early espresso on the top and left sides), and the alphabet are from MDS.  I love the versatility of MDS and how easy it is to use other products with it.  I have been collecting digital scrapbooking elements for almost 2 years, so it is great to finally start using them!

My Digital Studio…

… not just for scrapbooking.  Or even cards for that fact!

The day that the new digital designer series paper download for mds called Summertime Splendor I just had to get it.  There are not too many times where I have seen something and had to have it right away.  I loved the images in the designer series paper and knew it would make for great scrapbook pages and immediately wished that Stampin’ Up! would have put it as a “real” paper in the catalog so I could cut it up and use it.  It did not even occur to me that, duh, you can print it out and use it on cards, until I saw Patty Bennet use it on her blog.  It was exactly what I wanted to do, she just took my thought and figured it out, instead of just wishing and not doing anything like I was.  So of course I have now made many sets of cards using the paper.  This is one of the sets that I took a picture of :

This is a simple version, and it is so easy to dress them up even more!

I have been trying to use My Digital Studio more lately, to help catch up on some scrapbooking, and decided to use it to make inserts for the Simply Adorned 1 inch Charm.  So the first place I went was to the Summertime Splendor DSP.

sa2I then moved on to more whimsical one.  sa3

I sat down a printed out 20 different inserts in about 45 minutes.   I love this charm and wear it all of the time with the different inserts.  I always get comments on it when I wear it out.   Here are some of my favorite of the inserts.  sa1

(Oops, I just realized in this picture that the insert in the charm is stamped not done in MDS.)

More MDS

My stamping table became the hot spot in the house over the last week and a half to throw any type of junk.  So I have avoided it and worked in MDS.  (I did spend sometime today cleaning it off so I can stamp again!)  I have done many pages but this one is my excuse as to why I haven’t gotten much done over the last week and a half.

I had pretty detailed journaling on the blank parts of the pages.  (I did not post them for privacy reasons.)  The gray image in the background came from the Extreme Elements stamp set in the MDS program.  I enlarged it and changed its opacity to create an interesting page element.

Come back tomorrow morning for the Diva Challenge, I have something that is actually stamped!

Calendars

I have had several people ask me if I would sell the calendars.  The answer is yes.  I am still trying to find the perfect quotes for a few of the months.   This is a 12x12 calendar and it is $34.95 plus tax per calendar.  It will be printed from SU!’s high quality print vendor.  And as a bonus I will pay for shipping costs of the calendar.  I will update my blog with the finished quotes asap but you can purchase them with or with out quotes.  Let me know if there is anything else that you would like customized and depending on how difficult or time consuming it is I can probably do it for you.  Also it is Sale A Bration time, so if you purchase $15.05 more worth of product you will get to pick a free item from the SAB catalog.

A 2010 Calendar

I was inspired by Patty Bennett to create a calendar using some of the pictures I had taken over the last year.  I love how simple it was to create using the My Digital Studio program from Stampin’ Up!  This calendar practically threw itself together and I love it.  I have yet to figure out how to export the calendar pages as they would appear in an actual calendar so I will show you each month side by side.

I think I am going to go back in and add a quote to each page.  This year I plan to take a picture of the kiddos for each month page and create a scrapbook calendar of the little life events that happen.

So easy a 7 1/2 year old can do it

Seriously the new My Digital Studio program from Stampin’ Up! is that easy.  As part of the certification program for demonstrators we are required to make a card and print it through their print vendor.  As I was working on my project I was interrupted and came back to the computer to find my daughter playing around with my card.  She didn't really know what she was doing but I figured I would let her explore her creativity and play around with it.  I sat behind her and directed her to the areas to find the changes that she wanted to make.  And she pretty much made a card all on her own, and a cute one at that.  I had already pulled out the kraft paper and the navy ribbon onto the screen and she took over from there.   I just had to print out her card too so show off her great work.  I was really happy with the quality of card that we received back from the printer and it even came with its own envelope as an added bonus!

Sorry for the lighting issues, it is raining yet again.  (But I did take a hint from Andrea Walford to use colored papers to help get better colors in your pictures and there was a big difference from the ones that I did with the usual white papers as compared to this one.)

I just love MDS!

I cannot get over how much I just love playing with My Digital Studio.  It will be available for purchase starting on October 1st, and the exciting news is that you can earn it half off!  My only problem is that I just do not have the time in the day to play with it more.  I have not had hardly any time for me in the last week.

I like to have the family help me plan meals for the week so that they have a say in what they eat.  It has helped my kids take responsibility for what they eat and in general they have started making healthier choices.  They also are more willing to eat the dinner without complaints when they help pick it and I also involve them as much as is possible (and safe) in the cooking process.  I started a while ago taking pictures of some of the foods so that I could make a family recipe book where they could look at the pictures to help remember the dish that I am suggesting to them as we plan.  Well the pictures have just been sitting on the computer doing nothing until MDS came along!  Here is a sample of one of the pages that is in our family recipe book.

This project is just flying together.  I was able to use My Digital Studio to create a page template, which has made the project so easy and they all look the same and fabulous.

WOW MDS!

I was lucky enough to get the My Digital Studio from Stampin’ Up! for my birthday.  I was so excited and could not wait to get it.  I now have it in my hot little hands and have had a little bit of time to play with it.  It was so much fun and I could not get over how easy it was.  This is surely going to help me catch up on my scrapbooking.  I hate to admit it but I am WAAAAAAYYYYY behind, my son is only a few months old in the last page  I scrapbooked and now he will turn 6 next month.  I have a lot of catching up to do.  Here is a little mini book for Emmalyn it took no time at all!  This took about an hour to make.  I started with a basic template and changed a few things here and there.  But I would have maybe done one traditional “paper” page in that time.
