Diva Coffee Break Designs Challenge #178

ACK this post is going up late.  I could not get my internet working last night when I was trying to add it to the diva blog, and I cannot get it to work from my ipod.  I am missing some program that I need and dont know how to get it.

Well Monday is Memorial Day for those of us in the United States.  So what better way to celebrate than with a wonderfully patriotic color combination challenge.

I will be sad to see my Brilliant Blue retire but am excited about the new colors all at the same time.  I started out designing a patriotic card but I just was not feeling it so I went slightly another way.  Still patriotic but not all at the same time.

dcbd$178This card was designed to fit in one of the open ended envelopes from Stampin’ Up!  I really like all of the cards that I have seen over the past few months with the squares with two rounded corners.  I have no idea who they originated from or who made the first one I saw, but I love them and they are so not my idea, but I can copy them!

Stamps:  Awash with Flowers

Ink:  Basic Black, Real Red, Brilliant Blue

Paper:  Whisper White, Real Red, Brilliant Blue

Accessories:  White Organza Ribbon, Stampin’ Dimensionals

Tools:  Corner Rounder Punch

More MDS

My stamping table became the hot spot in the house over the last week and a half to throw any type of junk.  So I have avoided it and worked in MDS.  (I did spend sometime today cleaning it off so I can stamp again!)  I have done many pages but this one is my excuse as to why I haven’t gotten much done over the last week and a half.

I had pretty detailed journaling on the blank parts of the pages.  (I did not post them for privacy reasons.)  The gray image in the background came from the Extreme Elements stamp set in the MDS program.  I enlarged it and changed its opacity to create an interesting page element.

Come back tomorrow morning for the Diva Challenge, I have something that is actually stamped!

Diva Coffee Break Designs Sketch #177

Oh what a week this has been, I cannot believe it is already Wednesday.   Thank goodness for the Diva Challenges, if it weren't for them I would hardly have a blog.  This week is a sketch that I had fun playing with.    DCBD177

This month Stampin’ Up! has a fabulous promotion for National Scrapbooking Month.  It has reminded me to get some scrapbooking done.  I have been playing with my copy of My Digital Studio (one of the products involved in the promotion), so I decided to try a card with the program too.  It was so nice and easy, and although I had a general idea of what I wanted to do, my first design didn't quite flow the way I wanted and it was so nice to know that I had not wasted any papers or supplies to get it the way I wanted.

Diva Coffee Break Designs Challenge # 176

OK one of these days I am going to get my act together and be able to post more regularly on this blog.   My poor family blog is doing even worse, much worse.

This weeks DCBD challenge is a fabulous spring color challenge.   Sadly some of these colors will be retiring soon so I am glad to be able to put them to good use before they go.

DCBD176 Today it is warming up to spring again, on just two days ago we were freezing (well I guess it wasnt really freezing but when it is 50 and the average is supposed to be 81 it feels like it is freezing.)   It looks like most of my new little sprouts in my garden are surviving so it is time to create a nice springy card.

I don’t remember when exactly I received this stamp set, but this is the first time that I used it.  I do not know why I haven't inked it up before.   I think I am going to be using this stamp set (if not this exact card) to put along with some gifts for teacher appreciation week.  I think that the saying is a great way to say thanks to a special teacher.

Stamps:  Of the Earth (hostess)

Ink:  Mellow Moss, Rose red, Blush Blossom

Paper:  Mellow Moss, Rose Red, Blush Blossom and whisper White

Accessories:  Mellow Moss Grosgrain Ribbon

Tools:  Big Shot, Perfect Details Texturz Embossing plate

Diva Coffee Break Designs Challenge #175

Welcome back, it is Wednesday so of course it is time for another Diva Challenge.  This week we have a fabulous sketch. image

Honestly when I saw this sketch a few weeks ago I thought, how in the world am I going to do that one?  I printed it up and stuck it on my desk where I looked at it every time I walked by, and it even kept me from stamping because for some reason I was afraid of it.  I really did not know how I was going to work it out, until it hit me like a piece of the sky falling on Monday night.

I really wanted to keep it simple.  At first I think I made it a little too simple which is why I added the butterflies, but I am not sure if I completely am in love with them or not yet.  I really love the color combination you will probably be seeing it pop up again!  And yes I used a retired color, but it is coming back soon so consider this a sneak peak!
