Diva Coffee Break Designs Challenge #166

Here we are in the midst of another rainy here.  My three year old complained this morning that it is not supposed to be “gray-y” outside, it is supposed to be sunny!  Last week when the kids were out of school it was perfect spring weather in the upper 60’s and lots of sunshine.  Just what we needed to finally start to get rid of everything.  I am finally on the mend, and I can even have a decent conversation with out hacking up a lung.  It is wonderful to be able to breathe again!

This weeks challenge was a fun color challenge.

They were fun colors to work with.  Of course when I saw this I immediately thought of the cottage wall dsp, with out the old olive.  I pulled out one of my favorite stamp sets, Inspired by Nature, and went to work in the few minutes that both girls nap’s overlapped.  This stamp is definitely in my top 10 all time favorite stamps.  I just love it!

dcbd#166There is no sentiment on this card yet.  I like to have several cards on hand with no sentiments so that I can add the perfect one when the occasion arises, and I found out last night when I needed a card at the last minute that I was out of them.

Don't forget to play along with the diva’s (here) and link your creation to the diva blog for everyone to enjoy!

Diva Coffee Break Design Challenge #164

Ok, so I just realized that today was Wednesday.  I have to confess that a lot of my post are pre scheduled because I just do not get the time to stamp every day with 4 kids and everything else that goes into life.  So I sit down and stamp several times a week but only type out my posts once or twice a week.  Well I actually stamped this card for the blog last Wednesday but never made a post for it.  So here is today’s card, a little late but here you go.

This week was a color challenge week.   imageThis color combo was a little confusing to me, but when I sat down to stamp it was late at night and I knew I had time to stamp.  The red used looks like Real Red but the color said Bravo Burgandy.  I knew that sometimes things look different on the computer screen so I went with the name.  So when you participate you may either use Burgundy or Real Red.

More Sympathy

This is a sympathy card that I made in several color combinations for my Husband to take to have on hand at work.  This uses the new Stampin’ Up! Extra Large Two-Step Bird Punch.  There are 3 pieces to this punch, a bird body, wing, and branch.  I punch it out on a scrap piece of cardstock and used a sponge to sponge color into the different pieces while assembling the bird shape.   This was one of my favorite color combinations.  sorrowbirdStamps: Thoughts and Prayers

Sympathy Card

This is the card that no one wants to have to give, but I find that I am often needing one at short notice, so I made a few extra of these to have on hand when the situation calls for one.  I had fun with some new toys from the new mini catalogs.  First is the fabulous new item I used was the Stampin’ Up! Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions Folder from the Occasions Mini Catalog, this folder gives dots that pop right off of the paper.  Next I used the Scallop Trim border punch that I earned for free from Sale-A-Bration.  The third new item I used was the Pretty in Pink satin ribbon.  Oh this is so nice, I already know that I am going to be addicted to this stuff.  praying for you

Valentine please be mine

Wow I am on a roll, a post 3 days in a row!  This card is one that uses the I {heart} Hearts stamp set that is so much fun.  This stamp set is also the set that if you purchase Stampin’ Up! will donate $2 to the Haiti Relief fund.  Because this stamp set is in the new Occasions Mini Catalog it comes in one of two ways, the traditional wood mount stamps or the new clear mount stamps!

imageI think that this would be a fun set to use all year round for quick notes to the kids and hubby, as well as anniversary, wedding and engagement type cards.

Diva Coffee Break Designs Challenge #163

Yep it is wedensday again, so time for another fabulous challenge.  This week it is a sketch challenge.  I really love this sketch.  When I saw it I knew exactly what I was going to do.  Now that doesnt happen very often.  I will get some sort of idea of what I want and my card will grow from there, but this was one of the times that I knew what I wanted to do and it actually turned out!  Here is the sketch:

I knew that I wanted to use the Pink Flamingo Designer Series Paper from.  If I haven’t already said it a million times, I love Stampin’ Up!  Designer Series Paper.  It all coordinates so wonderfully together, there really is no guess work on whether or not it will work together style and color wise.  Here is my card:

This was probably a 5 minute card and half of the time was spent looking through my box of punches for the corner rounder.  I just love the brightness of the card.  It is so what we need here in our house after all of the clouds, fog and rain.

Don’t forget to head over to the Diva Blog to check out some more great samples from the other divas using the sketch and play along too!

Can you believe it?!

A post that is not a challenge.  I am sorry for the lack of posts here, if it wasn't one thing it was another.  But now we are all mostly healthy and I am mostly caught up on household chores, so it is about time I post some cards.  This first one is a quick one for Valentines day.  It uses the Sending Love Specialty Designer Series Paper.  Each sheet of paper in this pack has one side that is embellished with glitter.  It is so pretty and fun.  This is a card that I will probably use at my upcoming class.   love you muchThe Love you much saying was stamped with Very Vanilla Craft ink and embossed with clear embossing powder.  As I was using the heat tool to emboss, the vanilla ink  picked up some of the red pigment from the paper and turned almost the color pretty in pink.  I have never had that happen before when I embossed (so don't count on it happening to you) but it is still so pretty and it coordinates.  I love the new scallop trim border punch that is on of many FREE Sale-A-Bration (SAB) rewards.  I tried to get a close up of the glitter because it is really pretty in real life to show you the sparkle on the paper.
