Just Believe

The Just Believe stamp set is the first stamp set I fell in love with in the new catalog.  I love the images and the sentiments and there are just so many possibilities floating around in my head, I just need to get them out.  These two samples are cards that we made at convention as our make & takes.

This card is my favorite make & take from convention.  I love the colors and elegance of this card.  I also used the color spritzer for the first time.  It was fun, I might have gone a little too heavy with it but I still love the way it turned out.

Stamps: Just Believe
Inks: Bashful Blue, Not Quite Navy, Old Olive, Pear Pizzazz
Paper: Bashful Blue, Not Quite Navy, Watercolor paper
Accessories: Certainly Celery stain ribbon, linen thread, brights designer buttons,
Tools: Color Spritzer tool

This is a cute and quick little 3x3 card that I think would make a fun card to attach to a birthday present when you know you have given a gift that is going to knock the socks off of the recipient.  Super simple but the sentiment says it all.

Stamps: Just Believe
Inks: Daffodil Delight, Early Espresso, Peach Parfait, Pear Pizzazz
Paper: Whisper White
Tools: Stampin Sponge

Blog Changes

As you can tell I finally took the time to start personalizing my blog a little bit. It is still very much a work in progress. But I have created a simple blog header/banner that I love with MDS and a fun cute little signature. They do not really match each other but for now it is still a work in progress.  What do you think? What do you like best, what should I do differently?  I hope to be back shortly with something stamped, the kids are all playing outside together in the backyard so I was going to go sneak in and do some stamping!

Uh Oh, DCBD # 187

Somewhere in the timeline of life I lost track of days and thought that today was Tuesday not Wednesday so I am a little late posting my Diva Coffee Break Design Challenge for the week.  I spent last week in Utah at the Stampin’ Up! convention and visiting with family who live there.  It was an awesome time and even though I do not have any pictures to show from it (I lost all of my pictures at the end of the closing session when I turned my camera on and it told me I needed to reformat the memory card, which I did not do but we still have not been able to pull any pictures off of it)  I learned so much.  I also had a blast seeing family I have not seen since Christmas and my brand new niece and nephew!
This week we have a great sketch challenge for you!
DCBD187It is a very versatile sketch and for it I chose to rotate it and highlight some of our new DSP, Newsprint.
dcbd187I chose to use my new favorite color, Cherry Cobbler, and according to some fun facts presented by Shannon West at convention it is currently the #1 selling color of cardstock for the company.   The medallion for the sentiment is an idea that I have had on my desk since last October presented by a former diva Sandi MacIver, that I have loved but have never managed to work into a card.    I finally used it and I love it!
Well I have to go finish getting caught up on things around the house, be sure to check out the diva website here and play along with us!

Diva Coffee Break Designs Challenge #186

Today I am in Salt Lake City for the Annual Stampin’ Up! convention.  I am so excited to be able to attend this year, it will also be a nice break from life so that I can play “kid in a candy store” for a few days.  I just hope that my hubby can survive the 4 days alone with the kids.  He has not spent more than a couple of hours with all 4 of them so it will be fun to watch from a distance.
This week the Diva’s have a wonderful color challenge for you.  The colors are Tempting Turquoise, Melon Mambo, Pear Pizzazz, and Early Espresso.  They made for a great fun summery card.  I also used a stamp set that I completely forgot I had and have never used.  I found it stuck behind some retired stamps when I was cleaning out my retired stamps.

Cute By the Inch

I am having a lot of fun playing with the new level two Hostess Stamp set called Cute By the Inch.  They are great to whip together little cards.  I have made several cards at the last second when I have a minute or two to spare in the morning to stick in my husband’s lunch so he gets a little love note while he is eating.  I have put them on the kids pillows for them to find when they go to bed (although they are not always found until a day or two later when they are cleaning.)  They are also great for 3x3 “love note” sized cards.

This is a fun little card that I added in as a little extra with my last swap cards just because I was having so much fun with them.  I made a little mini envelope out of the new Newsprint DSP using a retired envelope template and the card is a 1 1/2 by 3 scrap folded in half.

new stuff

I think that on our next 100+ degree day I am going to hide a bunch of these around the house and have a little scavenger type hunt for the kids.  It could be so much fun.  Let me know if you come up with any great ideas of your own for this cute little stamp set!

Diva Coffee Break Designs Challenge #185

Wow, has it really been a whole week since I have posted here.  I really don’t know where all of my time goes.  I have had some fun stamping a few nights this week.  I guess that is the one benefit of having a husband that works late at night, after the kids are in bed and the chores are done I don't have to feel guilty about stamping!  This week over on the Diva Coffee Break Design Blog we have a great sketch challenge for you.

DCBD185I really liked the simplicity of this sketch.  There were many possibilities but I really liked the first card that I sat down and cranked out.

I really like this color combo of Cherry Cobbler, So Saffron and Crumb Cake.  I cannot get over how much I love Cherry Cobbler.  I am not a pink and red girl, I love my greens (Kiwi Kiss, I am still morning your loss) but Cherry Cobbler has stolen a chunk of my heart.  I have a couple of people I should be sending some get well cards for so I whipped a couple of these up in no time flat.  You really can’t tell from this shot that the embossed layer has the Bella Toile BG stamped on it in Crumb Cake.   (I am having so much fun with this embossing folder!)  It just looks a little shadowy, I had a hard time capturing the stamping on the embossed layer.  Here is a close up that captures the detail a little better.

It adds a nice subtle touch to the background.  The flower is also stamped with the same stamp in Cherry Cobbler.  The ric-rac looking ribbon was created using the scalloped edge punch.

Diva Coffee Break Designs 184

Happy Wednesday Morning Stampers!  I hope that everyone had a fantastic week with the holidays both in the United States and Canada.  We had a fun and busy weekend for the most part.  It was fun to celebrate our many blessings with friends and family.

It is Wednesday so it is time for another Diva challenge.  This week we have a gorgeous color combination for you using one of the returning In Colors, Wild Wasabi, that Stampin' Up! brought back in its color renovation in this new catalog.

color184

I was so thrilled to see Wild Wasabi come back, it was my second most favorite of all of the past In Colors.  I had access to limited supplies and time to create this card and the picture was taken at 10:30 pm so the coloring is not the best but I like the card.

dcbd184I sponged some Wild Wasabi in over the raised polka dots from the embossing folder to make them pop a little more.

New Stamps!!!!

Yesterday marked the beginning of the new Stampin’ Up! catalog!  On of the new hostess sets that you can earn is Because I Care.  I have had so much fun creating with this stamp set already but these are my favorite cards I have done with it.

I really love this color combination and have made many cards with it already.  The colors are Cherry Cobbler, Crumb Cake and Basic Black.  I already need to get more Cherry Cobbler, I never thought I would go through this much red when it is not Christmas or Valentines Day. The card idea was cased from Tina Dyck I only slightly tweaked it.  I have made two slightly different versions.

justbecause Both flowers were water-colored using aquapainters on shimmery white cardstock, on the second flower I added white gel pen highlights to the centers of the blossoms.  I like the water-coloring job on the first card better but I like what the gel pen adds.justbecuase2

Stamps: Because I Care

Paper:  Whisper White, Shimmery White, Crumb Cake, Basic Black

Big Day!

Today was a big day all around.  My son got his cast off his arm, my husband and I celebrated our 10th anniversary oh yeah and Stampin’ Up! officially released the new idea book and catalog.  I was never able to stamp that perfect card for my husband.  I always have a hard time sitting down specifically to stamp for him, it never turns out good enough for him.  But nonetheless I gave him a hand stamped anniversary card.  I do not have any card pictures to share with you now but I do have some fun pictures to share.

The New Catalog, isn’t it pretty?!

Here is a shot of my Husband and I 10 years ago today!

This was taken around 1 in the afternoon in the Bay Area, it was a foggy and cold day everyone was freezing but Scott and I didn't notice.

Have a great night, I will be back with a card tomorrow!
