Card for Daddy

The kids have seen me put notes in Scott’s lunch box and they asked if they could do it too.  Usually this means that they want to use my stuff to make their own card but surprisingly this time they wanted me to make it.  They picked the stamp set and the papers ( I laid out 7 colors that would work together and they each picked one color) and we collaborated together.  I already had a sketch out on my desk and the card came together quickly.  They have each picked out the spot on the inside that they are going to write their message.

The kids had fun trying to decided which body parts looked the most like them.  I love being able to spend fun times like this with my kids, and it is great to have a hobby that they can help me with.

Build A Bear

Since it has been such a long time since I actually stamped my mojo is slow in coming. I decided to start simple with some of our new Build a Bear Workshop line. I am so excited about these new stamps. This is a simple, fast and fun card.

BAB#1I really like the details of the little skirt for the bear. I folded along the decorative – scoring lines in the skirt and popped it up on dimensionals. BAB#1skirtI had another shot to show better how the skirt was raised but as I was editing it I realized it was an up the skirt type of shot and didn't want to go there. The middle section of the skirt is popped up with 4 dimensionals stacked on top of each other.

I’m Back in California!

Sorry for the blackout on the blog.  I was able to take a wonderful business trip/vacation to Chicago and Bloomington, Illinois with my husband and youngest.  I didn't want to post about it before hand because I have heard of people announcing vacations on their blogs and then getting robbed while they were gone, so I didn't want to risk anything.  I may be super paranoid, but everything was still here when we got home!

This is a card I made just before I left for the Diva Coffee Break Design challenge.  It was a tough color combo for me I don't use Orchid Opulence or Garden Green much so it was out of my comfort zone.  The challenge was based of a beautiful floral arrangement.  DCBD140 I really struggled with this, probably because my mind was on all of my packing and things that I needed to get done before my trip.  I ended up going with a floral theme as well.

Look Who’s Turning!

I forgot about a card that I told a friend I would make for her.  So I quickly came up with this card for her.  She had specified the colors that she wanted and I added in one more color to brighten it up (curry).

lookwhos2 Everything on the card is embossed, the ostrich, the happy birthday background, the look who’s turning label, the number 2 and the hats and confetti on the side.  This card it really texturally appealing and the camera doesn't catch it.

Stamps: Look Who’s Turning

Ink: Versamark, Mellon Mambo

Paper: Elegant Eggplant, Melon Mambo, Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry Textured cardstock

Accessories: Dimensionals, Melon Mambo Polka Dot Ribbon, Clear Embossing Powder, White Gel Pen

Retired Goodies

School starts 3 weeks from yesterday (20 days), but who’s counting?

I have spent a lot of time over the past few days working with some of my favorite retired goodies, and I haven't taken pictures of most of it before giving it away.  There is one set that I remembered to photograph.  I have actually made this same set several times over for different people and they have all loved it.  It uses one of my (many) favorite retired DSP packs, I think it was called Jersey Shore but now all of the sudden I cannot remember.   I made this particular set for a friend who is a little bit of a tom-boy, which of course there is nothing wrong with.  Here are a few of the cards.

I think that this set had 14 cards in it because that is all I could get out of the remaining pieces of paper.  None of the cards were exactly the same, colors or ribbons or sentiments were changed on each card.  This basic design is super simple and can be used with any of Stampin’ Up!’s fabulous dsp packs.

Stamps: Defining Alphabet, Lots of Thoughts (retired)

Ink: Wild Wasabi (retired)

Paper:  Whisper White, Brilliant Blue, Wild Wasabi(retired), Pumpkin Pie, Jersey Shore DSP(retired)

Accessories:  Pumpkin grosgrain, Pumpkin Pie and Wild Wasabie (retired) striped grosgrain

Tools:  Big Shot, Top Note Bigz die, Curly Label Punch
