Welcome to

Tour #5

Stop #19

I have been having a lot of fun pre paring numerous cards for today’s big tour. I get to show you the Upsy Daisy stamp set, it is one of my all time favorites because I am a sucker for daisies! I also like this set because it is so versatile, I can use it for any number of occasions, so you will see I have left the sentiment off of many of the cards so I can just whip out a card when I need it and add a fitting sentiment.

I actually had 3 different sets of cards that I made to pick from, but I had a hard time because I liked each set for different reasons. So I enlisted my kids to help me pick. So I asked the 3 older kids in one at a time to choose and of course they each picked different ones. So today I will show you two of the sets and you will have to come back next week to see the one that my toddler picked! I will also be doing things a little differently on this post since there are so many cards I will post the “ingredients” under each card instead of a formal list at the end of the post.

This is the set that my boy likes the best, because it has “the least amount of girly on it”. I wanted to use the Urban Garden DSP and ended up using Baja Breeze and Basic Gray as the main colors. Here is what the set looks like:

ud 1

These cards are all pretty simple , I created these card with the idea of using them as part of a card class.

ud 1-1 Although it doesn't show up very well in the picture, there is a Baja Breeze Shadow created by stamping a second image slightly off center of the basic gray image using the stamp-a-ma-jig. I used Baja Breeze and Basic Gray ink, Urban Garden DSP, Baja Breeze, Not Quite Navy, and Whisper White cardstock, Stamp-a-ma-jig, stampin dimensionals, the pretties kit for the half back pearls, button bouquet button, and white taffeta ribbon.

ud 1-2 This card also has a baja breeze shadow like the first card. I used Baja Breeze and Basic Gray ink, Urban Garden DSP, Baja Breeze, Basic Gray, and Whisper White cardstock, ticket corner punch, scallop edge punch, stamp a ma jig, and Not Quite Navy brads.

ud 1-3Sorry this card looks like it is falling over on you, I was struggling with lighting and this is the best shot I got. I used the Stamp-a-ma-jig to stamp two of the daisy images side by side to create an image large enough to cover the length of the front of the card. I used Baja Breeze and Basic Gray ink, Urban Garden DSP, Baja Breeze, Basic Gray, and Whisper White cardstock.

ud 1-4 This card was my son’s favorite. It uses Basic Gray ink, Urban Garden DSP, Baja Breeze, and Basic Gray cardstock, and Baja Breeze Stitched Grosgrain.

For my second set of cards I tried my hand at the “Zindorf” brayering technique. This is the set that my 7 year old daughter likes the best.

ud 2

This was my first try at the technique. It is not bad but definitely has its imperfections. It was a great learning card.ud 2-1 This card uses Versamark, Pink Pirouette, Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose and Rose Red inks, Whisper White, Regal Rose, and Basic Black cardstock, Pink Pirouette textured cardstock, black embossing powder, heat tool, brayer, and the Crafter’s Tool Kit for the paper piercing.

ud 2-2 This was my second attempt and definitely getting better. I figured out that the more ink I used the better. It really helps the colors to blend. This card uses Pale Plum, Perfect Plum, Elegant Eggplant, and Versamark ink, Kiwi Kiss texture cardstock, Whisper White, Basic Black and Elegant Eggplant cardstock, the eyelet border punch, brayer, black embossing powder, heat tool, and the Crafter’s Tool Kit.

ud 2-3 I am really happy with the way that this one turned out. It had so much ink on it when I touched the card and looked at my fingers it looked like I had stuck my fingers on an ink pad. The sun was created by making a mask using the 1 1/4 inch circle punch and cutting out a circle out of a post it note. This card uses Summer Sun, Really Rust, Pumpkin Pie, and Versamark inks, Barely Banana, So Saffron, and Basic Black Cardstock, Washington Apple DSP, Stampin Dimensionals, Black Brads, brayer, black embossing powder, and the heat tool.

ud 2-4In real life the lines are a lot more subtle between the colors for some reason the picture enhances the lines. This card uses Summer Sun, Really Rust, Pumpkin Pie, Chocolate Chip and Versamark inks, Summer Sun, Chocolate Chip, Tangerine Tango and Whisper White cardstock, Good Morning Sunshine DSP, chocolate Chip Taffeta Ribbon, dimensionals, horizontal slot punch, brayer, clear embossing powder, and the heat tool.ud 2-5 This is a close up of how the ribbon is fed through the card. I punched one slot in the top layer of the cardstock (originally whisper white before all of the brayering).

I hope you enjoyed these samples as I had a lot of fun making them to show to you. Be sure to come back on Monday to see the other Upsy Daisy set and check back soon for my blog candy!

Gorgeous cards. thanks for sharing the creativity.

The harsher lines in pictures versus real life is a funky thing about digital images and cameras and pixels being defined. TV shows shot in HD struggle with this because light looks different and shadows are more pronounced in the print than when the camera man looks through the lens. Actors tend to look older too since lines on faces and skin texture shows up in a more unforgiving way. The HD camera's even pick up flaws under the makeup! Old time Hollywood would be appalled now that few people use real film anymore.

Hugs and blessings and thanks for sharing - Jean
