School's Out For the Summer

Well today is the offical second day of summer vacation. It means more hot days, time with the kids and less driving! (especially needed right now with gas at $4.47 here). Kaitlyn had her last day of kindergarten on Friday. She had a fun time but was seriously bummed that she would never see her teacher again, she is retiring. She was also disappointed yesterday becuase she thought that she was going to start first grade right away, she doesnt like the idea of having to wait unti August to go back to school. I showed Kaitlyn several projects to do and these are the ones that she picked.




The first is this neat little stationary holder that so many people are doing right now. The directions for it can be found here.

It was actually pretty easy to do even with a lot of "help" from Kaitlyn. Next time I have to remember to stamp on the plain cardstock before assembling, we kind of got ahead of ourselves so the base part of our box is pretty plain. We used the Flowers for you designer series paper, and the love and happiness rub-ons from SAB for the majority of the project.

The card organizer is a 12 month card organizer that has calendar pages on the inside with pockets to add in cards, we found it here. For this project Kaitlyn picked the Cutie Pie designer series paper, which doesnt look too pretty sitting next to the other project but on its own it is adorable.

And of course what is a gift with out chocolate, so there is a nugget tin decorated with the Flowers for You paper.

Kaitlyn also had the two morning kindergarten teachers helping out in her class. Well me and my forgetfulness completely forgot to make something for them and I didnt realize it until the middle of the night Thursday. So I got up extra early on Friday morning and went to my favorite blog for some inspiration. I found these cute little stationary holders with matching note cards and envelopes and whipped up two of them in less than an hour.

This is a complete case of her work, no orginality on my part becuase of the lack of time I couldnt think properly. Dannie has a great video tutorial on how to make these on her blog. This set uses the Tart and Tangy stamp set, Summer Picnic Designer Series Paper (my favorite), wide red grosgrain, and coordintating cardstock and ink.

Spencer's Teacher Gifts

Today is the last day of kindergarten but last Friday was the last day of preschool for Spencer. The end of the year really snuck up on me. I had plans to be ahead of schedule which of course did not happen. With the end of the year here was of course a mad dash to get together some teacher gifts. The following are the gift sets we made for my son's preschool teachers. He helped with a lot of the work and had a blast.

The set includes a journal/notebook, beaded pen, post it note holder, magnets, nuggets and a bag that was supposed to hold homemade cookies but we ran out of time so all of the little gifts were stuffed inside.

We used the Jersey Shore Designer Series Paper, scallop and circle punches, Edgy Eloquence, Lots of Thoughts, So Many Scallops, Tags So Much, Little Pieces, and Holiday Blitz Stamp Sets, some pumpkin pie grosgrain, retired fancy fibers.

This set used the Retired Rebecca designer series paper, scallop and circle punches, Lots of Thoughts, So Many Scallops, Edgy Eloquence and Quirky Alphabet stamp sets, and retired chocolate satin ribbon. Pin It Now!

Love is in the Air

Well with wedding season fast approaching I decided it was time to whip up some appropriate easy and cute cards. I almost forgot to take a picture of this one and ended up taking the picture in the car on the dash and the beautiful landscaping made for a pretty background. This card uses the retired whirly-twirly wheel in craft in on a pretty in pink 5 1/4 square base. Then I stamped "happy together" from the Every-Day Flexible Phrases stamp set on a sheet of vellum, I made a frame out of silver metallic cardstock and these were attached with dimensionals. The hearts are from the sticky cuts die cuts with the fine cosmo rose pink glitter. I ended up mounting them on rose cardstock to give it a little more color depth and then these were added to teh card with 3 dimensionals stacked on top of each other to give them more height. There was also a little ribbon attached with a fasenator staple because I have a hard time keeping ribbon off of any card.

Oldie ... but goodie

I needed an excuse to stamp so this week I have been working on making a bunch of little note card sets as thanks you/ think of you gifts for friends I haven't seen in a while. It also gave me an excuse to go visit some of them to drop off the gifts. Unfortunately I didn't remember to take any pictures this time around of the cards, but they were pretty much the same as this set that I made for a partner swap I was in about a month ago.

This note card set uses the current 07-08 in colors which I will be so sad to see some of them go. It is a super simple idea and layout but they were a big hit!Pin It Now!

She's really all that.....

I just love this new stamp set in the Occasions Mini catalog. It is just so easy to create with these wonderful bold images. It took a while to get this card just the way I liked it. I ended up making it more simple that I had originally planned and it fell into place. The bride image is embossed in black and the floral background is also embossed but in white this time. I love just the hint of color that sponging the blush blossom ink on the white cardstock adds. Hope you enjoy.Pin It Now!
